Two arrested in Pandan Indah kidnapping case

KUALA LUMPUR: Following the abduction of a businessman in Pandan Indah here, police have arrested two suspects and seized a vehicle believed to be used for the incident.

The suspects, aged 37 and 40, were a factory worker and a vegetable seller who had prior convictions, said Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak.
In a statement yesterday, he said the two men were arrested at 3 pm within the Jalan Putra Sulaiman area on Sunday.
“The 37-year-old was found to have had eight prior drug-related offenses. He also tested positive for drugs,” said ACP Mohamad Farouk.

The police had also seized clothes, handphones, and a Toyota Vellfire that is believed to have been used during the abduction. Both suspects have been remanded until Oct 6.
On Sept 29, the 38-year-old businessman was abducted in front of a restaurant in Pandan Indah by a group of men in a white Toyota Vellfire.
The victim was later released and the motive is believed to be linked to unpaid debts. Videos of the abduction, which show several motorcyclists chasing after the vehicle, were uploaded on social media.
